Temple of 10,000 Buddas

While in Hong Kong we went on a little excursion to the temple of 10 000 buddas. It was mentioned in our Lonely Planet guide but it seemed like no one that we spoke to who had been to Hong Kong had ever visited it. We were wondering why....until we got there. The name explains it all, a temple filled with 10 000 mini buddas; what it does not tell you is that you have to climb 400 steps to get to it. As you can see, with the unique statues that lined the stairway up the mountain, it was worth the climb.

Skyline - Hong Kong

Someone that Ty knew once told him that Hong Kong makes New York look like it is standing still-they were right. The skyline is unreal and the city is always so busy and alive. At any point you could walk down any street and there were so many people busy doing something. It is also one of the most hospitable places that we have ever been; men in business suits coming home from work at 10 pm asking us if we needed help finding anything and ensuring that we knew we were welcome in Hong Kong. Undoubtably one of the greatest cities that we have ever been and worth going back to at some point.

Hong Kong Markets

One thing about China/HK is that you can find one thousand varities of anything in the markets. There are many of them and they are buzzing with activity day and night. Here are some of the ones that we snapped pictures of. The fish markets are always the most interesting.

Macau

Macau is a really neat place. It is truly what you would get if you mixed Europe and Asia. Macau used to be owned by Portuagal. All of the buildings look like you are in Europe but all of the people are chinese. It is also attempting to become the Vegas of the East and so far they are doing a really good job of creating a city that looks just like Vegas. Macau is the only place that you are allowed to gamble down here so I think that it will really take off.
